The Beginning

Born from a Love for Handloom

Annaaadai was founded in Chennai by Ragni Mathur Anna with a singular vision: to bring the magnificent handloom traditions of South India to every modern wardrobe. The name "Annaaadai" draws from the Tamil word for clothing — "Aadai" — combined with "Anna," meaning elder brother, symbolizing trust, care, and guidance in every purchase.

What started as a small venture sourcing Kanchipuram silk sarees directly from weaver families has grown into a curated collection of over 25 styles spanning silk sarees, designer kurtis, celebration lehengas, and traditional veshtis. Every piece in our collection is handpicked from artisan clusters across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka.

We believe that authentic handloom clothing should not be a luxury reserved for the few. By working directly with weavers and eliminating middlemen, we bring you heritage-quality ethnic wear at honest, accessible prices — delivered straight to your doorstep.

Milestones Along the Way

2011 — The Seed

Ragni Mathur Anna visits the weaver villages of Kanchipuram and is moved by the artisans' skill and their struggle to find fair markets. The idea for Annaaadai is born.

2013 — First Collection

Annaaadai launches with a curated collection of 10 Kanchipuram silk sarees, sold through word-of-mouth in Chennai. Every piece sells out in weeks.

2016 — Going Online

We launch annaaadai.shop, making our collection accessible to customers across India. We add kurtis, salwar sets, and men's veshtis to our range.

2019 — 50 Artisan Partners

Our weaver network grows to over 50 master artisans across Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Karnataka. We introduce lehengas and half sarees.

2023 — 5,000+ Happy Customers

We cross the milestone of 5,000 satisfied customers, with a 4.8-star average rating. Our bridal collection becomes the most sought-after category.

2026 — The Future

We continue to expand our collection, onboard more artisan families, and bring the beauty of South Indian handloom to every corner of the country.

Ragni Mathur Anna

A passionate advocate for India's handloom heritage, Ragni Mathur Anna founded Annaaadai with the belief that traditional textiles deserve a place in modern life. With over 15 years of experience in the textile industry and deep relationships with weaver communities, she personally curates every piece in our collection.
